A food donation from the 'Uiha Community Committee in Nuku'alofa was distributed by the Tonga Red Cross Society to about 70 households on 'Uiha island, Ha'apai on February 5.
The food donation included flour, sugar, rice, noodles and other daily food essentials.
Sione Taumoefolau, the Secretary-General of the Tonga Red Cross, said that the people of 'Uiha appreciated the great efforts of their relatives who are living in Nuku’alofa, for remembering them in their time of hardship.
The distributions of shelter kits to people by the Tonga Red Cross is ongoing and the next step of the recovery effort will be the rebuilding of houses.
A Red Cross health team assisted the community with basic information on hygiene in the aftermath of the cyclone.
