Christmas festivities begin in Nuku’alofa [1]

Tonga's biggest Christmas tree was lit by Crown Prince Tupouto'a 'Ulukalala on 15 November, at an event hosted by Digicel Tonga in the Central Business District.
The park on the corner of Taufa’ahau Road and Wellington Road has been turned into a “Christmas park” bu Digicel who will host community events for families to enjoy during the holidays.
The Crown Prince was joined by Crown Princess Sinaitakala and their son Prince Taufa'ahau together with up to 4,000 people, including the disabled from the Mango Tree Center, Alonga Center and the OTA who all received presents from Santa Claus.
The launching of the park was celebrated through a range of activities which started with hosting the official welcoming home of Tonga’s national Rugby League Team, the Mate Ma’a Tonga followed by an afternoon of family activities, which included dancing competitions, jumping castles for the kids, Santa Claus gave away gifts before the lighting of the christmas tree right after sundown. Prominent local singers, singing groups and Suliana’s dance academy provided entertainment for the crowd throughout the evening before the Fetu'ungingila group ended the event.
