France has avenged its 2011 Rugby World Cup defeat to Tonga. The French scored four tries against the ‘Ikale Tahi yesterday in Paris, producing a decisive victory 38 – 18.
The ‘Ikale Tahi however, managed two late tries in the second-half, both scored by Winger Fetu’u Vainkolo.
The game was marred by a fight between prop Sona Taumalolo and French lock Yoann Maestri. The two forwards were red-carded for their ill-behaviour. Another incident saw Taniela Moa get yellow-carded for elbowing French hooker Dimitri Szarzewski.
Tonga’s ill-discipline however has been dwarfed by that of the Fijian rugby team who were given five yellow cards in a match against Italy yesterday. Fiji lost the game 37 – 31 and also set a new rugby record for the most yellow cards given to a team in an international match.
The ‘Ikale Tahi’s next and final game of the year is against Wales this November 22.
