Magistrate discharged suspended Police Superintendent [1]

Suspended Police Superintendent Lolesio Hausia was discharged on a common assault count by Magistrate Similoni Tu'akalau, at the Nuku'alofa Magistrate Court today, 18 October.
Magistrate Similoni Tu'akalau discharged Lolesio Hausia after the Crown's two witnesses, including the victim Viliami Fatafehi failed to turn up to give evidence at the summary trial. The hearing has been adjourned a number of times before.
The witnesses had appeared before Magistrate Tu'akalau on October 17 after they were issued a bench warrant and were ordered to appear for trial today but didn't.
The suspended officer was charged for punching the victim on August 23 at 'Anana, Tongatapu.
The suspended Police Superintendent is currently under internal police investigation on another unrelated matter. He is alleged to have been involved in corrupt activities with criminals.
