China to build new office complex at Pangai Si'i [1]

The contract for the conceptual design of a new Tonga Government Office Building complex was signed by representatives from the Prime Minister's Office and the China Northeast Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd in Nuku'alofa, last Friday 13 September.
The multi-million project, dubbed as the “Saint George Palace” complex, was initiated by the late King George Tupou V in 2010.
The new Government Office complex, to be constructed at Pangai Si'i will accommodate the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Immigration Division, and the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.
According to the Prime Minister's Office construction has been tentatively scheduled to start in July 2014.
