Young man in coma after student attack on home [1]

A Tonga College ex-student Taniela Halahuni (22) remains in a coma on a ventilator at Vaiola Hospital, after sustaining severe head injuries in an alleged student attack at a home in Tofoa on the night of Thursday, July 18.
Another person injured in the attack, Daniel Tather Yom-Kippur Mahe Jr (15), a student at Tonga College, was today reported to be doing alright.
The Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Soakai Motu’apuaka said this afternoon that the coma victim Halahuni, was an ex-student of Tonga College. He could not release any further infornation as the police investigation continued.
It is understood that the 147 suspects from Tupou College who are detained in police custody in relation to the attack, are expected to appear before a Magistrate in chambers this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Dr Saia Piukala who is in charge of the Surgical Ward at Vaiola Hospital, told Matangi Tonga Online this morning that the 22-year-old man was in a coma and on the ventilator, and in a very critical condition.
