After the home of ‘Ofa ‘Amanaki at Ma'ufanga was gutted by fire early on Sunday October 14, the Tonga Red Cross had responded immediately to assist the family, Sione Taumoefolau, the Secretary General of TRC, said today.
The Red Cross Society received the information after 7:00am and had set up a camp for the family the same morning, he said.
"Tonga Red Cross Society provided family tents, 1 tarpaulin, 2 hygiene kits, a cooking set, blankets, 20 litre bucket and a hurricane lamp. TRCS is happy to respond to any emergency," he said. The items that were distributed were part of the disaster preparedness for any emergency in future.
