King and Queen of Tonga join Maori King celebrations [1]

King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau'u left Tonga for New Zealand today to attend the Maori King's coronation celebrations, Koroneihana hui, which began this week.
The Kingitanga or Maori King movement celebrates the accession of King Tuheitia with week-long events that started on August 16 at Turangawaewae Marae in Ngaruawahia, Waikato.
King Tupou VI is attending the celebrations for the first time. Other guests include New Zealand's Governor General Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae.
