'Amini wins a Bronze in New Caledonia [1]

The Tongan swimmer, 'Amini Fonua won a Bronze Medal in the Men's 50m Butterfly at the Oceania Swimming Championships in New Caledonia last night, May 29.
The Oceania Swimming Championships offered the final opportunity for Tongan swimmers, 'Amini Fonua, 'Ifa 'Ifalemi and Irene Prescott to gain qualification for the London Olympics.
As of last night, May 29, 'Amini won a Bronze Medal in the Men's 50m Butterfly, but right behind him in the same event was 'Ifa in fifth place.
In the Women's 50m Butterfly, Irene came in at 11th place.
The next event for 'Amini and 'Ifa was the Men's 100m Breastroke, today.
Ella Mawdsley, from the Tonga Amateur Sports Association office said that for a Tongan swimmer to qualify for the Olympic he or she has to be the national top swimmer in his or her category and the final rating from the Championship would be the final deciding factor. She said that a final list of Tongan athletes for the London Olympic will be announced on July 9.
