Parliament adjourns after passing two bills [1]

THE Legislative of Assembly of Tonga was adjourned indefinitely on Friday night, January 14, after members sat overtime until 9:00pm and passed two Bills.
During the day on Friday, the new members of parliament were sworn in. The house in the afternoon proceeded to elect the new Chairman of the Whole House Committee, Sifa Tu'utafaiva.
The house returned from 6:00pm to 9:00pm where members passed a Bill for an Act to amend the Constitution of Tonga 2011 and a Bill for an Act to amend the Authority for Salary Scales 2011.
The Speaker Lord Lasike then adjourned the house indefinitely until he makes further notice.
The official opening of the Legislative Assembly is set for May 2011.
