5.8 earthquake South of Tongatapu [1]

A short sharp earthquake, magnitude 5.8, centred 83 km (51 miles) SSW from Nuku'alofa, was felt in the capital this evening at about 7:03 pm, where it shook buildings for a few seconds.
The US Geological Survey reported that the undersea epicenter was located at 21.831 degrees South and 175.554 degrees West at a depth of 35 km (21.7 miles).
No damage is expected and there is no current tsunami warnings or advisory in effect for Tonga today.
