Japan supports schools and community projects in Tonga [1]

Over $974,000 pa'anga in aid was pledged by Japan on Tuesday to help fund schools projects and other community projects in Tonga.
The First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Suva Mr Yoshinori Yakabe signed on January 26, a grant of US$ 554,261 (T$974,100) to finance eleven projects in the Kingdom of Tonga under the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project for 2005.
Dr Kalolaine Fusimalohi, the Director of the Central Planning Department, signed the grant contracts on the behalf of the government of Tonga, together with the 11 recipients of the Japanese grant.
The eleven projects that are funded under this grant are:
Fatai Government Primary school US$46,003 (T$82,400);
Popua Government Primary School US$73,472 (T$131,600);
Malapo Government Primary School US$11,668 (T$20,900);
Red Cross Hearing Impaired School US$27,336 (T$48,900);
Falemea Village Water Supply US$18,730 (T$ 33,400);
Faleloa Village Water Supply US$ 36,619 (T$65,400);
Ha'ano Government Primary School US$44,161 (T$ 79,100);
Fakakaki Government Primary School US $73,863 (T$132,300);
Niu'ui Hospital Medical Equipment US $58,576 (T$104,900);
Taoa Village Water Supply US $68,208 (T$121,900)
and Tupou High School, Vaololoa, US$85,625 (T$153,300).
Under the Japan...s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project the priority areas of funding include education, public welfare, basic health care and environment conservation.
The signing of the Grant Contracts was held at the Central Planning Department office at Nuku...alofa.
