Westpac Bank of Tonga launches new mobile phone banking service [1]

THE Westpac Bank of Tonga in its effort to make banking easier for its customers, launched a new mobile phone banking service in Nuku'alofa on November 28, allowing registered customers to perform select banking transactions from their mobile phones whenever and wherever there is mobile coverage.
Westpac Bank of Tonga General Manager, Paul Wilkinson, said that Mobile Banking is Westpac's new banking channel that gives customers the option to manage their daily banking needs from their mobile phone making it convenient to access their bank account whenever or wherever they may be, as long as there is mobile coverage.
He sadi that this service is free of charge for their customers and can be accessed by both mobile providers UCall and Digicel mobile phones subscribers. "It is a great benefit for customers living in remote areas and it is convenient and simple to use," he said.
However, customers must register first with the bank to receive the access details.
Services made available under the mobile banking system includes checking account balance, transfer funds between Westpac accounts, view recent transactions, order a statement, cheque book order or report card lost or stolen.
