Marist makes history in TFA 2009 Major League [1]

Marist dominated for the first time the Premier Division of the Tonga Football Association's 2009 Major League Competition to win the $3,000 pa'anga grand prize on Saturday, July 11.
Marist made history in Tonga Football after defeating Lotoha'apai, who was the major league title-holder since 1998 in the finals at the National Soccer Centre, 'Atele.
The Lotoha'apai who had no choice but to take second place walked off with a $2,500 pa'anga cash prize, followed by Manuka in third with $2,000 pa'anga.
In a July 14 press statement, the Tonga Football Association, said the Major League Competition that boasted a prize presentation amounting to $19,100 pa'anga, was a great success.
The competition was divided into five major divisions; the premier division, 1st division, 2nd division, the Under-15 and Women's division.
Longoteme
In the 1st division Longoteme took first place of $2,000; followed by Ha'amoko United with $1,500; and Vaolongolongo with $1,000.
Kolofo'ou dominated the 2nd division to take the first place of $1,000; followed by Folaha in second with $800; and Fo'ui in third with $600.
In the Under 15 Division Folaha became the winner of the $700 pa'anga first prize; Lotoha'apai came in second with $500; and Fo'ui in third with $300 pa'anga.
Nuku'alofa 11
In the Women's Division the Nuku'alofa 11 team emerged as the champion and took home a cash prize of $1,500 pa'anga; followed by Marist with $1,000 in second position and the Kaimai Glamour Girls came in third with a $700 pa'anga cash prize.
