Digicel customers will now be able to view the internet whilst on the go. With a GPRS handset, the user will be able to check email, browse their favourite websites, such as Matangitonga, Bebo, Google and many many more.
In another first for Tonga, Digicel subscribers who own a camera-phone will be able to send a Multi Media Message (MMS). MMS will enable Digicel subscribers with GPRS-enabled phones to send and receive their photos as messages. The cost to send an MMS is $0.50.
Digicel has a range of GPRS capable handsets currently on the market; ranging from the Coral 400 to the Motorola Z6. With a Digicel GPRS handset, you will have email and internet access on the move, wherever you go.
Digicel Tonga CEO, Christian Fruean, said "Digicel has set a mobile telecommunications landmark for Tonga with the introduction of GPRS to the market. Now Digicel customers will be able to go about their daily lives and will always be connected with their GPRS phone".
For Digicel customers, accessing the internet will cost only $2 per MB. For example, if a user downloads 2.5 MB while online, he or she pays $5.00. Digicel, 13/03/09.
