The life of Tongan flanker Fe'ao Latu was celebrated by family and friends in a Memorial Mass held at the Perigueux, Saint Front Cathedral, the largest cathedral in Southwest France, on Monday, January 19.
Fe'ao (28) tragically died from a heart attack after collapsing during a game at the Lucien Desprats stadium in Cahors on Sunday, January 11.
Family members in Perigueux said today that hundreds of mourners attended the memorial mass, including the small Tongan community in France, rugby players and members of his rugby club Perigueux.
Fe'ao's immediate family present included his father Penisimani Latu, wife Selesitiana Latu and sisters in law Tangikina Valu and Siniva Filise.
In the meantime, the Perigueux Club is still making arrangements for Fe'ao's body to be flown back to Tonga this week but no exact date has been confirmed.
The club held a special tribute to Fe'ao during a game on Sunday, January 18 at Rongiéras. Teammates celebrated his memory and talent by wearing t-shirts printed with his picture and carried a Tongan banner with the French slogan " You Will Always be in our Hearts".
