Petroleum prices drop nationwide [1]

Petroleum prices dropped down to the $2 litre mark, following a nationwide fuel price decline that saw over 60 seniti drop from last month's price on the main island Tongatapu.
The retail price for a litre of Motor Spirit in Tongatapu has dropped to $2.09, being a .64 seniti drop from the $2.73 per litre price recorded in December last year, as announced by the Competent Authority on January 2.
The outer islands are also enjoying the drop in fuel prices with Vava'u standing at $2.15 per litre, Ha'apai $2.32, 'Eua at $2.14, Niuatoputapu $2.79 and Niuafo'ou at $2.84.
The price of Diesoline has also declined. In Tongatapu the price per litre stands at $2.47, a .37 seniti drop from the $2.84 recorded last month. In Vava'u it stands at $2.52, Ha'apai $$2.69, 'Eua $2.51, Niuatoputapu at $3.21 and Niuafo'ou at $3.26.
The rural areas are also enjoying an up to .35 seniti per litre drop in the price of Kerosene, which in a month came down from $2.29 per litre to $1.94 in Tongatapu; and down to $1.99 for Vava'u, $1.98 for 'Eua, $2.16 for Ha'apai, $2.61 for Niuatoputapu and $2.66 for Niuafo'ou.
The price hike that was announced by the Competent Authority showed that as you move away from the main island of Tongatapu, the price of fuel goes up.
