Tonga receives $3 million grant from China [1]

Tongan and Chinese officials today signed a co-operation agreement in Nuku'alofa this afternoon under which Tonga received a grant of $3 million pa'anga.
The conclusion of an Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Tonga was signed by the Chinese Vice Minister for Commerce HE Fu Ziying, and Tonga's Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Tu'a Taumoepeau-Tupou,
The signing of the agreement was marked with the handing over of an aid grant of TOP$3 million from the People's Republic of China "to help meet priority development needs of the Government of Tonga."
HE Fu Ziying with a nine-members delegation arrived in Tonga this morning and will be departing Tonga for Auckland on the evening of January 10.
During their short visit, they met the Prime Minister, Dr Feleti Sevele this morning and in the late afternoon visited some of the development projects in Tongatapu that were funded by China.
