U.S. Reaction to the expulsion of the NZ High Commissioner from Fiji [1]

We regret the decision by the Fiji Interim Government to declare the New Zealand Acting High Commissioner "Persona Non-Grata". This act will further erode the Interim Government's international standing and contribute to its isolation both at home and abroad.
The United States hopes the Interim Government will remain engaged with all its regional neighbors and the international community.
We believe that all energies should be directed towards the removal of sanctions by expeditiously returning to democracy. USA Embassy, Fiji, 24/12/08.
