10 years of Tonga-China relations [1]

The Tonga Government and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China hosted a reception to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, on October 30 at the Janfull International Hotel.
During the past ten years the relationship between the two countries has flourished and Tonga has also established a diplomatic mission in Beijing.
In a speech to mark the occasion the Tongan Prime Minister, Dr Feleti Sevele emphasised the warm relationship between the two countries over the years and he also specifically mentioned a joint project utilising Tonga's orbital slots and a seabed exploration program.
The occasion also marked the recent arrival in Tonga of a new Chinese Ambassador, HE Mr Fan Guijin who arrived in Tonga on October 27, after serving in Africa, and most recently in Uganda.
