Rapist gets 8 years jail for incest [1]

The Kalonikali on October 23 reports that a 60-year old man from Fua'amotu was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for incest, after he was charged with raping his ten-year old daughter at his tax allotment in 2000. The victim is the second youngest of the defendant's seven children. He had previously served a four-year sentence for indecent assault and incest with his eldest daughter, and according to the Kalonikali that daughter is being looked after by the Queen.
Other reports in the newspaper included a story that says Tonga is toying with the idea of shipping all its oil from Singapore in a supertanker.
Dr Toakase Fakakovikaetau won the '2008 Louise Lown Heart Hero' award.
The Taimi on October 22 reports that an elderly woman had found a dead baby, which was hidden in a suitcase and dumped in a rubbish bin at Lapaha. The mother has been identified as an unmarried teacher.
