A spectacular half hour display of fireworks on the Nuku'alofa seafront attracted crowds of spectators on the evening of August 1, Tonga's Coronation day, for King George Tupou V.
The fireworks were combined with a Tupakapakanava or traditional torch lighting ceremony on the seafront - the second during a week of events. The shores of the offshore islands of Pangaimotu and Fafa sparkled with rings of fire as students and their families lit torches made of sheaths.
