Vava'u models showcase island fashion [1]

Eighteen Vava'u boys and girls competed in the fifth round of Tonga's Top Model Competition at Puataukanave Hotel, Neiafu on Friday July 4.
The contestants made their debut on the catwalk in two categories and showcased Vava'u's own trendy fashion sense of striking evening gowns and colourful summer dresses and casual wear.
Monalisa Palu, the organiser said the Vava'u competition was a fun night cheered on by a full house of supporters consisting of fans and relatives.
The winner of each round is determined by a text messaging campaign, in the contest which began in the capital in early June and will find 35 finalists to compete for the Top Model title and prizes on July 16 at Queen Salote Memorial Hall in Nuku'alofa.
The competition's four previous rounds were held in the Nuku'alofa/Kolofo'ou area, Western Hihifo District, Eastern Hahake District and Central Vaheloto District.
