Two men admit destroying hotel and supermarket on 16/11 [1]

Two men appeared separately in the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court this morning and pleaded guilty to serious offences of destruction of the Pacific Royale Hotel and Fung Shing Supermarket arising out of the events of November 16, 2006.
Tau'a'alo Kavaliku of Vaini appeared before Chief Justice Anthony Ford and pleaded guilty to two charges of attending a riotous assembly and the destruction of the Pacific Royale Hotel that was located in central Nuku'alofa.
The Chief Justice told the accused that he will have full credit for pleading guilty at the first opportunity and adjourned his sentencing to July 9.
At the same time, another man, Maikolo Kupu of Fatumu, appeared before the court and also pleaded guilty to three charges of attending a riotous assembly, the destruction of the Fung Shing Supermarket located at Fasi mo e Afi and housebreaking.
The Chief Justice adjourned the sentencing to July 9 and ordered probation reports to be provided
