The Taimi on April 21 reports that 'Akilisi Pohiva, accompanied by 'Isi Pulu and Clive Edwards, had told a meeting of prominent people of Ma'ufanga that he wants to enter parliament with these two. But by the next day, his newspaper carried a goodwill message to Sangster Saulala from 'Akilisi, and also published letters urging that Clive be dropped in favour of Semisi Tapueluelu.
The Talaki on April 23 reports that the "Demos" have resorted to slandering one another, and that worries 'Isileli Pulu, because of past efforts by fellow male candidates to discredit him.
According to the Kele'a on April 23, Kalafi Moala's radio program on FM 88.6 has caused the following: withdrawal of some advertisers; the pelting of the station's roof; and FM 88.6's telephone exchange was overwhelmed with rude calls.
The Kalonikali on April 24 reports that people are cutting down young trees for sandalwood, but these lacked marketable qualities for export and were left to ruin. The theft of sandalwood is also on the rise in 'Eua and Vava'u.
