The Kilo Moana Cruise in the Kingdom of Tonga [1]
Wednesday, April 9, 2008 - 05:28. Updated on Friday, July 24, 2015 - 16:54.
Nautilus Minerals Tonga Country Manager, Mr Paula Taumoepeau wants to make correction to the Matangitonga Online article on March 28 about the Kilo Moana Cruise on Tongan waters.
The cruise is funded by the US National Science Foundation and is not under contract to Nautilus Minerals.
TeckCominco (a shareholder of Nautilus Minerals) has provided a donation to the University of Hawaii Foundation, a Philanthropic non-profit organization which supports the University of Hawaii, allowing an extension of the research cruise.
Further more, the cruise does not include any Nautilus personnel, other than a PNG national geologist who is on paid leave to receive geophysical training from University of Hawaii Sonar experts.
Nautilus will be conducting exploration cruises in Tongan waters, from vessels contracted to Nautilus in 2008.
