ADB Vice President to visit Tonga [1]

Asian Development Bank (ADB) Vice-President C. Lawrence Greenwood Jr. will visit Tonga next week to discuss ADB's assistance programs and future areas of cooperation.
During his first official visit to Tonga Vice-President Greenwood will meet with the Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Feleti Sevele, as well as the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the National Reserve Bank of Tonga, and the Minister for Training Employment, Youth and Sports. He will discuss ADB and the Kingdom of Tonga's five-year Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) that focuses on poverty reduction anchored on infrastructure development, economic and fiscal management, and private sector development.
Vice-President Greenwood will also meet with other development partners, and visit ADB project sites.
Vice-President Greenwood was appointed to his current post in December 2005. He is responsible for operations of Pacific, South East Asia, East Asia departments, as well as Central Operations Services Office. A career diplomat for nearly 30 years, Vice-President Greenwood has extensive experience in Asia, international finance, development, trade and investment.
Tonga has been a member of ADB since 1972. Tonga is the 36th largest shareholder among regional members and the 44th largest shareholder overall.
