The Tonga Rugby Football Union TRFU was ordered for the second time by the Supreme Court to hold an Annual General Meeting, this time to be held tomorrow, Friday December 21.
The court order made on December 13 follows an earlier court order issued on July 30 by Chief Justice Anthony Ford, for the TRFU to hold an Annual General Meeting AGM no later than August 24.
in an ongoing dispute within the TRU both court orders followed applications by Sione Taumoepeau, a Life Member of the Board of Directors of TRFU against the CEO of the TRFU, Siosaia Fonua.
On December 13 Chief Justice Ford ordered that the TRFU 2007 Annual General Meeting to be held on December 21 and for the current members of the Union and official delegates to attend.
The TRFU includes the President Hon Baron Vaea and the Vice President, Sione Taumoepeau. There are also 36 members of the Council of Delegates, nine Board Directors and three life members.
Chief Justice Ford also ordered that the application by the Mu'a Rugby Club for affiliation is to be included as part of the agenda. The application for affiliation by 16 other clubs should be in accordance with the constitution of the TRFU, and that Siosaia Fonua the former TRFU CEO is allowed to attend the AGM and present further information to the members of the TRFU regarding the state of affairs of the Union.
The AGM will be held at the Anglican Church hall at Fasi at 5pm on Friday December 21.
The office of the TRFU confirmed today that the chairman of the board, Sangstar Saulala, is away overseas and will not attend, but his deputy Tui Uata will attend.
