Esther Tohi (18) of Fasi mo e Afi was crowned the Miss Face of Tonga 2007 at the Kahana Lagoon Resort last night.
The Guest of Honour, HRH Princess Latufuipeka Tuku'aho crowned the winner at the conclusion of a colourful event.
The Miss Face of Tonga show spectacular began in style with eight contestants arriving at the lagoon side venue in canoes. There were special performances by the Miss South Pacific Tessi Toluta'u and singing sensations Suliasi and Dianne Pole'o.
The contestants appeared in three judging categories: the Island Wear, Talent and Career Uniform.
Esther's prizes included $400 cash, a Face of Tonga gift pack worth $100 pa'anga, a tiara and a dinner voucher.
Esther, who is currently in her second and last year at the Tupou Tertiary Institute, wants to pursue a career as a computer operator in the future. She is also the younger sister of a former Miss Heilala, Phyllis Tohi.
The first runner up was Miriam Ngaue (21), second runner up Siuesi Kupu (20) of Pahu, and the third runner up was Beautyanne Taufa (19) of Ma'ufanga.
The Face of Tonga is an annual show that began in Nuku'alofa five years ago with the aim to build up the confidence of local girls, thus enhance their personality and professional development.
Last year the show was cancelled because of the November 16 riots.
