Man apprehended after wharfside shooting [1]

Two men were shot and wounded during a shooting incident at the western end of the Tuimatamoana Wharf, Nuku'alofa, in the early hours of Sunday December 21.
A 55 year old man has been apprehended and is being held in custody.
The Deputy Police Commander Taniela Faletau said that the two wounded men were taken to Vaiola Hospital for treatment and were later released to go home.
He said that the police were alerted at 2 am, Sunday. When they arrived at the scene the alleged shooter, was no where to be seen, but a 55-year-old man was later apprehended and arrested at his tax allotment at the village of Ha'ateiho, Tongatapu. A .20 mm gauge shotgun was also confiscated by the police, who said the man was under the influence of alcohol when he was apprehended.
The man appeared in the Police Magistrate's Court, Nuku'alofa on December 22 where Police Magistrate Salesi Mafi remanded him in custody until January 14, when he will face charges relating to the shooting.
