Tonga's Public Service Commission (PSC) will announce the 17 successful applicants for CEO positions with government departments before the end of the month.
A spokesperson from the PSC said today, that the working contracts of current Head of Departments will end on December 31 and the new Chief Executive Officers will take their new position effective on January 1, 2007.
The CEO positions were advertised, and interviews with applicants ended in Nuku'alofa on October 27. A panel, which included an overseas consultant hired by government to recruit the CEOs, will submit their report to the Tongan Cabinet by the third week of November.
The introduction of the CEO positions comes under Government's new structure for a leaner Government with fewer ministries, which came into effect on July 1.
