More parliamentarians are expected to arrive in Vava'u this week to participate in the annual inspection tour of the group, which runs from October 24 to November 3.
The tour was begun by four parliamentarians led by the Minister of Land, Hon. Tuita, and including the new Minister of Labour and Commerce, Hon. Lisiate 'Akolo; the Vava'u No. 1 Nobles' Representative and the Chairman of the Whole House Committee, Hon. Tu'ilakepa; and the Vava'u No. 2 Nobles' Representative, Hon. Luani.
On October 25 they visited the offices of Internal Revenue and Commerce in Neiafu, where they commented on the amounts of revenue collected by both of these offices, and also took note of their need for more computers and additional staff members.
The four visited the Vaipua Bridge, which is in need of repair and maintenance; the eroded sea access road into the village of ...Utulei; and a security fence for an abandoned quarry, Mo...unga Maka near the center of Neiafu.
At the village of Koloa they inspected three cement water tanks that were commissioned during the visit by parliamentarians last year. The water tanks were built for needy families in the village.
