Thousands of people in Vava'u gathered to hear HM King Siaosi Tupou V at the largest church service ever held there in recent times.
The combined service of all churches in Vava'u was held on Sunday October 15 at the Saione Wesleyan Church grounds, during the king's royal tour of the group.
In his message to the congregation of over 2,000 people, King Siaosi Tupou V said that the beauty of Vava...u, including its beautiful waters and island activities, was attracting a growing number of visitors from all over the world. He commended Vava...u on the acceptance and love they had given these visitors and encouraged the growth of tourism and work with palangis. He also asked that this love would extend itself to others living in Vava'u including the Asian and Indian communities.
The yachting community, in honour of the King...s visit, held the first annual Governor's Cup yacht race. HRH Crown Prince Tupouto'a Lavaka joined the festivities racing in a 44' Beneteau yacht belonging to the Moorings South Pacific.
