Mate Ma’a Tonga have thrashed Scotland 50 - 4, scoring 9 tries. The big win is an excellent start for the Mate Ma’a Tonga in their opening game of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. Mate Ma’a Tonga will face Toa Samoa on Saturday, November 4.
Mate Ma’a Tonga scored seven tries in the first half, leading 38 – 0. Scotland rallied in the second-half, scoring a try and allowing only two more tries to Tonga.
In the first-half of the game, the Mate Ma’a Tonga produced a galore of impressive tries and runs. Michael Jennings scored a hat-trick while Daniel Tupou scored a double.
The win vindicates Tonga’s defeat to Scotland at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
