A 33-year-old man was arrested on September 14, the latest in four arrests made in relation to the theft of tools that belonged to a team of Australian heart surgeons on August 30.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today this is the third accused charged directly with the theft of a laptop and four flash drives from the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel, which belonged to a team of medical experts from Australia.
The accused from Pea was arrested at his home, and charged with housebreaking and theft.
Police enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, confirmed this accused as the third accused in this theft. Investigation continues, he said.
Three men were arrested earlier. Two of them were allegedly directly involved with the theft and have been charged. The third was a 48-year-old man who was not directly involved in the theft, but was arrested from a house at a bush allotment in Lomaiviti, where police had found the stolen laptop, flash drives and four cannabis plants.
