University of the South Pacific (USP) campuses around the Pacific have been celebrating “Open Day”, an annual outreach event that showcases what the USP has to offer.
In Tonga, the USP Campus in Ha’ateiho organized a “‘Katoa ki Olokava” last Friday. Visitors were given a tour of facilities and viewed displays by the various faculties.
According to the USP, over a hundred students from seven schools attended the “‘Katoa ki Olokava”, including Tonga High School, Beulah College, Liahona High School, Tailulu College, GPS Pea, GPS Tokomololo and Footsteps Kindergarten.
In the weeks leading up to the event, USP students held displays at the Heilala festival and actively engaged with the public and stated there was an “overwhelming response” from the Tongan public. "The most frequently asked question was whether students can complete their studies in-country."
