Team Tonga at Commonwealth Youth Games [1]

Four young athletes are representing Tonga at the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) that opened on 18 July in Nassau, Bahamas.
The athletes from two sports, boxing and swimming, are Noelani Day, Finau ‘Ohuafi and Iki Tu’itavake Jr, with a boxer Tu’ihalangingie Vea.
The aquatic competitions began on July 19 and continue this weekend, with the closing ceremony to be held on 23 July. So far none of Tonga's young team have progressed beyond the preliminaries.
Chef de Mission is ‘Amanaki Fakakovikaetau with Vila Day as Manager/Chaperone for the swimmers.
Noelani Malia Day (14) who was the flag bearer for Team Tonga at the opening ceremony, is competing in the Girls 50m and 100m Freestyle, Girls 50m Butterfly, and Girls 50m and 100m Breaststroke.
Swimmer, 'Iki Leonaitasi Tu'itavake (14) is competing in the Boys 50m and 100m Freestyle, Boys 50m and 100m Breaststroke and Boys 200m Medley.
Swimmer, Finau Lino 'Ohuafi (16) is competing in the Boys 50m and 100m Freestyle, Boys 50m Butterfly, Boys 50m and 100m Breaststroke and Boys 200m Individual Medley.
Boxer, Tu'ihalangignie Vea (17) competed in the Boys 56kg bout on 19 July, losing 2-3 pts to John Paul Wilson of Wales.
Occurring every four years, the competition has historically brought nearly 1,000 athletes from 65 nations to the host, with this year’s CYG set to be the largest-ever.
