Travelling exhibition of traditional Japanese arts and crafts comes to Tonga [1]

An exhibition of traditional Japanese crafts and artwork was launched this morning, 20 July by the Acting Minister for Tourism, Hon. Mateni Tapueluelu at the Tanoa International Hotel.
Crown Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukalala and Crown Princess Sinaitakala Tuku’aho were guests of honour at the opening.
The exhibition, presented by the Japanese Embassy and the Japan Foundation, featured hand crafted objects made from traditional material, such as ceramics, textiles, metalwork, lacquerware, wood, bamboo crafts and paper. They highlighted the “Multipliticy and richness of Japanese crafts.”
This Touring Exhibition has been on the road since 2005, and it has been to many countries, most recently in Brunei. After Tonga the Touring Exhibition will move on to Fiji.
The exhibition will be displayed in the foyer of the Tanoa International Hotel, Nuku'alofa, from 20 July until the 10 August.
The Japanese Ambassador to Tonga, HE Mr Ykio Numata invited members of the public to view the exhibition.
