Fantastic island costumes on show at Miss Heilala [1]

Creative and dramatic island creations and colourful sarongs were showcased last night 6 July, during the final judging events of the 2017 Miss Heilala Pageant, at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
The 16 contestants wore unique island creations made from local materials, including coconut shells and firbre, dry and green coconut leaves, tapa cloth, fine woven mats, pandanusand shiny sea shells.
In a second appearance to a cheering crowd, the contestants modelled colourful sarongs, twisted up into very unflattering swimwear.
The five finalists with the most outstanding island creations and top points for sarongs, in random order, were:

The winners and the new Miss Heilala will be announced tonight, Friday July 7 during the Miss Heilala Ball.
