Manu Vatuvei has been named in the Mate Ma’a Tonga squad to play Fiji Bati this Saturday, May 6. He has never represented Tonga before and is set to make his debut alongside Will Hopoate.
Vatuvei’s enlisting comes after major withdrawals from the Mate Ma’a Tonga team. It has been confirmed that Andrew Fifita, Michael Jennings, Sika Manu and Konrad Hurrell will not play.
With the Rugby League World Cup only a few months away, Manu Vatuvei is an exciting prospect for Mate Ma’a Tonga. The 31-year-old veteran winger is among the most experienced Rugby League players in New Zealand, having played in the NRL since 2004 (226 games). He represented New Zealand in 2005, when he was only 19-years-old.
