‘Eua prisoner found with serious injuries [1]

A male prisoner who was reported missing during a head count at Sainai Prison in ‘Eua on Saturday, 29 April, remains hospitalized after he was found seriously injured on a road in a bush area, outside the prison compound.
Police in Nuku’alofa today said, he is in critical condition after sustaining head injuries and serious body injuries.
Information from 'Eua Police said the prisoner was last seen at around 5:00pm, when he went to take a shower. At 6:00pm when the warden was doing the head count he was found to have disappeared.
They found him shortly afterwards lying on the road at the bush area in Loupata, close to the prison.
An investigation is being held to determine what happened to him and the circumstances of his disappearance, or how he got out of prison.
No other details have been released.
