Tongan Latter-Day-Saints and friends celebrated the 175th anniversary of their Relief Society, on March 17.
A celebration event held at the Fangaloto LDS ward, included guests Lesila Toia, assistant director of Women and Children in Crisis Centre (WCCC), and Pastor Sione Veikoso from the Church of Tonga.
Pastor Veikoso told the gathering, “This is a great way of breaking down the walls between churches."
The Relief Society is a Women’s organisation that provides service, education and social opportunities for women. It was established by LDS members in 1842 and currently has a sisterhood of 5.5 million members.
