The Tongan Government has signed an MOU with the APEC Climate Center (APCC) for a new Agri-water project to enhance reponses to water shortages by facilitating the use of climate information in water management systems.
The MOU was signed yesterday at the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel by Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Siaosi Sovaleni, Dr. Viliami Toalei Manu (CEO of MAFFF), Dr. Hong-Sang Jung (President of APCC) and Dr. Yonghee Shin (Research Fellow, APCC).
According to Government, the new project will enhance the data available for the strategic planning of water resources, equiping decision-makers with the information they need to ensure sustainable water resources. The project has been developed from two collaborative projects already implemented, the AgroMet and Water Project organized by the APEC Climate Center (APCC) and the Tongan Government.
