Two girls excelled in Tonga High School's 2016 academic year, with the Dux awarded to Sela Tupou Patisepa Maka (18) and Proxime Accessit to Kalolaine Launga Fa'anunu (17) at the prize giving ceremony held today, December 2, at Queen Salote Memorial Hall, Nuku'alofa.
Sela, a Form 7 student topped five subjects; English, mathematics calculus, biology, chemistry and physics. She also received the King Tupou VI prize of $2,000 for "Best Science Student".
Sela's family comes from Ofu, Vava’u and Tongoleleka in Ha’apai, and she lives in Ha'ateiho.
The Proxime Accessit, Kalolaine Launga Fa'anunu topped accounting and economics in Form 7. She also received the King Tupou VI prize of $2000 for Best Foreign Language Student. Kalolaine who resides in Halaleva, excelled in the French language.
The Best All Round student was also a girl, Sokapeti Vite.
This is the end of the prize giving for government secondary schools this year.
