NBA star Steven Adams (23) has signed a $100 Million (USD) contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The lucrative four-year contract makes Steven the wealthiest person of Tongan heritage in the world. The Oklahoma City Thunder announced the deal on Monday October 31. Steven Adams is the half brother of Valerie Adams who visited Tonga this week in her new role as New Zealand’s Pacific Sports Ambassador.
Oklahoma Thunder's General Manager Sam Presti announced the signing of Steven along with his fellow team mate Victor Oladipo “We are excited to extend our partnership with Steven and Victor. Both players represent the Thunder’s present and future, exhibiting the values that the Oklahoma community and our organization hold in high regard: hard work, team first, resiliency and citizenship.”
Since being drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2014 Steven has become one of Oklahoma City’s most valuable players. Standing over 7ft tall, he has appeared in 234 games for Oklahoma City and also become a popular figure among NBA fans popularized for having a gold tooth and Kiwi accent. Steven was born and raised in Rotorua, New Zealand, to an English father Sid Adams and Tongan mother.
