Educators petition against Minister of Education, citing "maladministration, incompetency" [1]

Petitioners who are concerned with the leadership of Hon ‘Akilisi Pohiva as Minister for Education and Training, this morning presented a petition to the Speaker of the House Lord Tu’ivakano from a Working Committee consisting mostly of educators.
‘Emeli Pouvalu, a former CEO for Education. who led the petitioners into Parliament Office said the petition is based on Section 75 of the Constitution of Tonga on issues of leadership.
She said this included "maladministration, incompetency, destruction or embezzlement of government property" and the forming of an Act, which may lead to difficulties between this and another country.
Petitioners present included Dr ‘Ana Koloto, a former USP Tonga Campus Director, Sione Tupouniua, ‘Atalasa Pouvalu, Mosese Manuofetoa and Rev Dr Ma'afu Palu.
