Tonga's national sports federations prepare for Pacific Games [1]

Tongan Olympian Karoline Lusitania Tatafu attended the first meeting of a sports High Performance Unit with national sporting federations on Thursday in Nuku’alofa.
18-year-old Karoline Lusitania Tatafu, was the first female archer to represent Tonga at the Rio Olympics and one of seven athletes who represented the nation at Rio.
The High Performance Unit (HPU) established in May this year preparing Tonga for hosting the 2019 Pacific Games. It will provide strengthening and conditioning facilities and other support services, helping the athletes to focus on performing to the best of their abilities.
The meeting clarified HPU guidelines, squad, budget and team procedure as well as looking at how to improve working relationships with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and national sports federations. It was attended by representatives from athletics, rugby union, table tennis, tennis, swimming, judo, archery among others.
The unit development was initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs which is responsible for sports in Tonga.
