Driver charged in Sunday crash [1]

A 26-year-old man was in critical condition at Vaiola Hospital after the vehicle he was a passenger in crashed into a tree on Taufa’ahau Road at Tofoa early Sunday morning, 14 August.
Police stated the driver and the passenger were heading south when the crash occurred near Lavengamalie College.
The 22-year-old driver from Kolonga who allegedly exceeded 700 micrograms of alcohol on his breath test, remains in police custody.
He has been charged with reckless driving causing harm and drunk driving.,
This is the second crash in Tongatapu over the weekend. The first fatal crash was on Saturday night at Veitongo, which killed a baby boy.
