A special event held in Japan on July 13 was co-hosted by the Tongan community of Kyushu and Tonga’s Ambassador to Japan HE Tania Tupou along with a Japanese women's group helping around 200 people whose homes were damaged in the Kumamoto earthquake.
"We returned with full hearts and were honoured to have worked with women's groups of Japan," said the Tongan Ambassador.
Tongans included Make and Tobias Sopu, a family who live in Kumamoto, and Kathy Sika, a first year student at APU Ritsumeikan University who performed a Tongan dance.
Kumamoto is situated in Kyushu, Japan's third largest island.
