Tupou College collects $1.9 million pa’anga [1]

Tupou College collected around $1.9 million pa’anga in donations presented by ex-students during its 150th anniversary celebration held at Toloa, Tongatapu last week.
Rev Samiu Fonua, Deputy Principal, said the gifts were made by ex-students from throughout Tonga and abroad and families of ex-students in remembrance of their loved ones, during a four-day program held at the school compound.
He said the Royal Family donated a total of $300,000 pa’anga, with HM King Tupou VI presenting $150,000 pa’anga to the school, while the Queen Mother honoured the late King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV and presented another $100,000 pa’anga.
The Crown Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukālala, President of the Tupou College Ex-Students, presented $50,000.
Principal Rev 'Alifeleti 'Atiola said the school was grateful "because these are sacrifices made by these ex-students and families of ex-students because of their love for the school to progress and develop further."
The FWC all boys secondary school celebration, held from June 17-24, coincided with the FWC Annual Conference, which ended in Nuku’alofa today, 27 June.
Rev Dr ‘Ahio was re-elected as President, with Rev Dr Tevita Havea as Secretary, on Tuesday 21 June. They were appointed the following day, at the Centennial Church.
